The website, Reporting on Sexual Violence in Conflict, sets out best practice media guidelines for reporting on sexual violence in conflict zones, and is an initiative of Dart Centre Europe.
Dart Centre Europe is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. Here we describe how we uphold that commitment and manage your personal Data. We may update this Policy from time to time without notice to you, so please check it regularly.
Overview
Like most websites, Reporting on Sexual Violence in Conflict (coveringcrsv.org), does collect information such as IP addresses of visitors and data about the usage of pages. This information is used to help us evaluate and improve the site and to understand what our readers are looking for when they visit the site.
We do not currently collect personally identifiable information from website visitors, except in specific voluntary instances, such as signing up for our e-mail list.
Dart Centre Europe is a regional hub for the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma which is a project of Columbia Graduate Journalism School. The link on the coveringcrsv.org leads directly to an email sign-up page on an external site dartcenter.org, which is maintained by the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma in New York. By entering details on that site you are signing up on the mailing list for both Dart Centre Europe and the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma.
If you choose to provide such information, that information will not be used for purposes other than that for which it was collected. Neither the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma nor Dart Centre Europe will sell or transfer your e-mail address or use it for anything other than communications from the Dart Center and will never do so without your explicit permission. What is meant by personal data?

Raidboxes
The hosting services underlying this website are provided by RAIDBOXES GmbH (Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 7, 48153 Münster, Germany). RAIDBOXES GmbH offers Software as a Service (SaaS) as part of a cloud hosting service.
RAIDBOXES GmbH automatically collects and stores server log files with information that your browser transmits to us. This includes:
•Browser type
•Operating system
•Referrer URL (previously visited page)
•Hostname (IP address)

Additionally, we have entered into a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with RAIDBOXES GmbH. This agreement governs the scope, nature, and purpose of RAIDBOXES GmbH’s access to data. Access is strictly limited to what is necessary to fulfill the hosting services.
WordPress Static Files
Our website uses WordPress, a popular content management platform, to manage and deliver content. As part of the use of WordPress, “Static Files” are utilized. These files include static content such as images, CSS files, and JavaScript files that are necessary for the website’s presentation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We collect personal data to help us to process your requests, keep in touch with you and to help us to interact with you in the most effective way. Examples of why we process your personal data include:
- Keeping you updated on our work and the impact of your support;
- Making sure you know about events that you can participate in as Dart Centre supporter;
- Inviting you to participate in campaigns;
- Providing services, products or information you have requested;
- Checking with you on how you want us to contact you, and record these preferences;
- Keeping notes of conversations that you have with our team, as a reference if you want to revisit the conversation later;

Data Processing
The personal data that we hold may be transferred and subsequently processed by external providers. For example, it may be stored securely in the cloud on servers belonging to third-party suppliers, who provide Dart Centre Europe with IT services. Where such third-party suppliers have such access to personal data, we ensure that proper controls and contracts are in place to regulate how those suppliers manage the personal data to which they have access. Where those companies run their operations outside the European Economic Area, we take steps to make sure that they provide an adequate level of protection in accordance with UK data protection law by requesting and checking their data policies and associated documents.
How we keep your information secure
The Dart Centre takes the care of your data very seriously and we use a combination of organisational and technological security measures to protect your personal information to the highest possible standards.
Whilst we take all of the measures that we’ve outlined above, unfortunately, the transmission of information using the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data sent to us this way, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our site.
